Alliteration aside; Dell have launched (or rather, quietly sneaked out) the P2311H ‘Professional’ monitor. Not only have they stolen the beloved ‘P’ prefix that is often used on Samsung panels, they claim this computer screen (of the twisted nematic variety) to be ‘professional’ – a term often associated with high-cost and quality panels with exceptional colour accuracy. The main thing to note is that the Dell P2311H is a sensible panel with an unfussy design and an energy-saving LED backlight. It’s a 23″ TN 1920×1080 monitor (not a particularly ‘professional’ resolution) with a 5ms ISO response time (not the commonly stated grey to grey), 2m:1 dynamic contrast, 1000:1 static contrast and a rather appealing pricetag of £210. The P2311H is due for launch immediately and we will feature it in the monitor shop as soon as possible.
