27 inch monitors

A refined selection large-screen models measuring 27 inches diagonally. Screens of this size were once confined to TVs but are becoming increasingly popular for PC users looking for an engrossing viewing experience or simply more desktop space. Models in this section include 1920 x 1080 (Full HD) and 2560 x 1440 (WQHD) resolutions covering a range of price brackets and suiting a multitude of different uses.

cheap monitors

In these tough economic times not everyone is willing or indeed able to spend a small fortune upgrading or replacing their monitor. The displays in this section are relatively affordable but still offer excellent performance, useful features and are altogether rather attractive buys. These models are all under $210 and range in size from 22 to 24 inches.

Gaming monitors

The models in this section are considered ‘gaming monitors’ because they combine low input lag with good pixel performance to yield a high level of responsiveness. Some of the models in this section also feature 120Hz refresh rates, giving them 3D capabilities and allowing them to reach up to 120fps for supreme fluidity. But our selection criteria is far more stringent than that – image quality also has to be up to par with respect to contrast and colour reproduction, giving the viewer plenty of eye candy and not just a smooth experience.

Photography monitors

This section includes some carefully selected monitors that will tick a lot of boxes for photographers, designers or anybody else who appreciates top notch colour reproduction, enhanced image consistency and flexible viewing angles. The models currently featured in this section include IPS (In-Plane Switching) and PLS (Plane to Line Switching) panel technologies to offer such benefits. The 27 inch models feature 2560 x 1440 (WQHD) resolutions for enhanced image detail and productivity. Additional benefits include great ergonomic flexibility with highly adjustable stands and a good range of inputs and outputs.

A note to UK and EU consumers:

There is important consumer protection legislation in the UK and the rest of Europe governing online purchases; Distance Selling Regulations (DSR). In short the DSR is designed to offer you, the consumer, the chance try a display out in your own home as you could have done in a shop before purchase. If you don’t feel the screen is right for you then you have a 7 day ‘cooling off period’ after receiving the product during which to voice your disatisfaction to the retailer.

The DSR legally obliges the retailer to issue a refund within 30 days but does not specify a particular period of time in which you must return the product – the 7 day timeframe specified is a notification period not an obligatory return period. You should do your best to fulfill your side of the bargain (preparing the product for return in appropriate packaging, preferably the original packaging) and the retailer will filfill theirs. The retailer we link to on the ‘recommended monitors’ subsections offers a very quick and user-friendly procedure for processing such requests. You will receive a full refund including the original delivery cost for the monitor but not the cost of returning or arranging collection of the item – unless it is faulty.
