27-inch

HP 2711x

The 2711x is HP’s flagship model of the 11x series, with a slim profile and an energy efficient LED backlight. The screen surface of this 27 inch monitor is glossy (anti-reflective) which may not be to everyone’s taste but does allow the monitor to produce a clear and vivid image without a distorting haze. This model is also good for gaming as it features good pixel responsiveness and low input lag, whilst the strong contrast brings some deep blacks and bright whites to the table. HDMI is also included (alongside VGA and DVI) for connection to a wide range of devices, including games consoles.

Why choose a 27 inch monitor?

Some people attest that 27 inch monitors are too large for PC use and such screen sizes should be reserved for TV screens. Some open-minded users feel that the high luminance afforded by the large and powerful backlights allows them to sit back from the monitor a bit for extra comfort (and desk space). Others find sitting relatively close to such a large screen provides a really immersive gaming and movie experience and really draws them into whatever it is they’re playing or watching. Regardless of these differing opinions sales figures show an upwards trend in people buying PC monitors of this size – they are becoming cheaper with an increasingly broad choice of models.

Some of these screens also offer additional advantages over their smaller counterparts such as high resolutions of 2560 x 1440 (WQHD) – allowing you to fit more on the screen and bring out even the finest details. In terms of ‘bang per buck’ there are some excellent displays to choose from in this size category which comfortably fit a broad range of budgets and usage requirements.
