Monitor Shop v2.1

Update: We have had significant feedback about the changes. There are many people who prefer the sidebar-style ‘search’ facility which is a little more compact and gives a rating if you hover over a product. It gives suggestions as you type, which is useful if you can only remember part of a monitor model or need further inspiration. Our recent changes have meant the removal of this facility on the monitor shop main page and manufacturer pages. Given this, we have placed the previous ‘search’ facility back on the monitor shop pages in lieu of the v2.1 facility. Features such as the ‘drop-down’ on all manufacturer pages and the monitor shop archive have received a positive response so they will most likely stay.

We have decided to take our monitor shop upgrades one step further from the recently announced v2.0. Although we refer to this update as v2.1, implying a minor change, the whole shop is now a lot more user friendly – allowing you to find the best computer monitors for your needs more easily. Some highlights of the new update includes:

- New search interface including an overall search on the main monitor shop page and various manufacturer-specific searches. The search is intelligent enough to allow keywords such as ‘LED’ and ’3D’ to be inputted to narrow the selection.

- The monitor shop (main page) was becoming overcrowded with updates, so a seperate archive of older updates was created.

- Manufacturer ‘quick select’ drop-down feature has been added to all manufacturer-specific pages, allowing easier navigation between PC monitor manufacturers.

- All manufacturer pages now include the ability to browse through all available monitors specific to that manufacturer, in addition to the recommendations which are categorised by screen size.

- Some manufactuers (such as Samsung) had a significant number of recommended 23 inch+ monitors (with more coming shortly, no doubt). We have split these into two seperate size categories of 23 inches and 24 inches+.

- Monitor Shop USA has undergone a complete overhaul with a new user interface and specific manufacturer sections.

We hope you like the changes and appreciate the enhanced user-friendly interface. If you have any concerns or questions, do not hesitate to contact PC Monitors and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

Monitor Shop v2.0

In response to a recent poll (although more largely due to us itching for an overhaul), the monitor shop layout has been changed. If you click on a specific manufacturer, you are taken straight to the recommended computer monitors of that manufacturer. These are the monitors that we feel offer you the best value for money, are of exceptional quality, and/or receive positive press and user reviews. We have also embedded links to an ‘about us’ page, where you will find a brief history of that monitor manufacturer and a little about the shop. We have also added a ‘Search Monitor Shop’ link (which does exactly what it says on the tin). We hope you appreciate these changes and, as always, look forward to your feedback.

We are happy to revert back to the old format or incorporate any changes you, our beloved readers, would like to see. Just comment on this post or contact us and we’ll consider your view.

Buy computer monitors widget

As you can no doubt see, a ‘buy computer monitors’ widget has been added to the sidebar. What this widget does is enable UK visitors to browse Amazon’s entire range of computer monitors and quickly see the best prices. The PC Monitors shop, which is powered by Amazon, filters out all of the duff monitors and brings you only the best LCD monitors filtered by size and manufacturer. We also update the shop frequently as new models become available and have recently added new models from HP, BenQ, Samsung and others. If you know exactly the monitor you’re after, you may find it quicker and easier to type it into the new sidebar widget and check the price.

A similar widget is available for US readers in ‘Monitor Shop USA’.

PC Monitors shop redesigned

We have given the PC Monitors shop a bit of an overhaul to make it more user-friendly and convenient to you, our treasured reader. We have removed the sidebar so that the focus of the page remains exclusively the monitor shop and not what’s going on elsewhere on the website. The biggest new addition to the monitor shop is a widget which contains the latest selection of PC Monitors that we feel offer you the best image quality, features and value for money. This is based on monitors we have reviewed and also monitors we have seen or heard good things about. We have also added the Nvidia 3D Vision glasses to this section, although we are aware this is not technnically a computer monitor ;) .

As ever you can browse the entire contents of the shop at your leisure by hovering over the monitor shop tab and clicking the appropriate manufacturer. If you are already aware of how to use the navigation, remember that by clicking the main ‘Monitor Shop’ tab you will get the new recommended PC Monitors widget; this spans all manufacturers currently featured in our shop. Have a look now and feel free to comment at the bottom of the page.

Coming soon to PC Monitors

Our regular readers may notice that the ‘coming soon to PC Monitors’ box has been removed from the top of the sidebar. Because we regularly update the website to tell you what we’re working on; the PC Monitors team felt this box was unnecessary. You can also subscribe to our feed or follow us on Twitter – or of course check back yourself regularly. We appreciate you reading our content, as without you, we would be wasting our time writing about PC Monitors! We are currently working on the Iiyama ProLite T2250MTS review, which should be up later this month.

Thank you for your patience and thank you for reading!
